SONOMA COUNTY, Calif., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The first ever Santa Barbara County Wine Boot Camp(TM) is scheduled for August 24, 2002. Wine novices and experts alike will gather in Santa Barbara County to experience the unique wine attributes of this region.

Wine Boot Camp(TM) is a day of intensive wine training. Upon completion of basic training, recruits' marksmanship in the field of fine wines will be right on target.

Only 125 miles north of Los Angeles, Santa Barbara County wine country offers incredible wines in a magnificent setting.

The morning mission site will be at Zaca Mesa, located on elevated plateaus with extraordinary vistas. Wine Boot Camp recruits will work hands-on in the vineyard under the tutelage of Zaca Mesa Vineyard Manager Ruben Camacho and in the winery under the guidance of Winemaker, Clay Brock.

The day's second mission will be at Mosby Winery, one of the earliest wineries in Santa Barbara.

Lieutenant-Colonel Bill Mosby will train the troops in the art of winemaking, stressing the importance of terroir. The right grape, the right soil, the right climate. Each recruit will bottle their own wine blended from the fabulous wines at Mosby Winery.

Other assignments of the day will include the highly acclaimed Aromatic Workshop conducted by Affairs of the Vine. The evening detail will feature a tasting of some of Santa Barbara County's finest wines followed by a mouth-watering Food & Wine Pairing prepared by acclaimed Chef Max Muller on the grounds of the old de la Cuesta Adobe at Mosby's Winery and Vineyards.

Raw recruits and wine generals alike will relish the experiences provided by this very special Wine Boot Camp.

The cost of Santa Barbara County's WINE BOOT CAMP includes all seminars and educational materials, lunch at Zaca Mesa, a Food and Wine Pairing Dinner at Mosby Winery, extensive wine tasting, a custom bottle of wine created by the recruit, transportation to all food and wine events, and an I Survived Wine Boot Camp T-shirt. $378 per person including all applicable taxes.
